Prel-Therm Insulating Glass Unit:

  • Insulating glass unit which provides soft radiant heat 
  • Provides ultimate comfort in any season in rooms with large windows
  • Prel-Therm heated glass eliminates the problem of condensation and frost, making the need for excessive ventilation in rooms where the humidity is particularly high unnecessary
  • Consumes low energy and does not require any maintenance
  • Effective in any season with the addition of a low-e glass and argon gas

Characteristics

  • Prel-Therm Heated Glass consists of insulated glass units, where one lite has a conductive layer. When the electricity is turned on, it produces radiant heat. When the electricity is turned off, the unit acts as a regular insulated glass unit.
  • Prel-Therm double insulating glass units usually measure 25 mm thick and consist of two 6 mm lites of glass and an air space of 13.5 mm.  The unit is composed of a lite of Low-E glass on the outside, while the conductive layer is located on surface #3.  Prel-Therm heated glass is also available as a triple unit.
  • The heat from the glass unit warms whatever is located in the vicinity of the window and in turn heats the surrounding air.  The temperature remains comfortable and uniform near the window regardless of the outside temperature. 
  • The use of Prel-Therm heated glass eliminates the problem of condensation and frost, making the need for excessive ventilation in rooms where the humidity is particularly high unnecessary.
  • Prel-Therm heated windows must be controlled by a thermostat with thermal sensor readings.  If the heated glass units are placed on different face of a building, it is recommended that a thermostat be installed on each face
